Integrative Counseling
JANICE GELLER MA, LPC, LMBT, BC-DMT
Janice is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 30 years experience providing Integrative Counseling and Mindfulness Stress Reduction, to individuals, couples, families and groups. Integrative Counseling is a therapeutic and educational approach to psychological and physical health.
Difficulties in life provide wonderful opportunities for awareness and growth. Rather than viewing distressing emotions, physical symptoms, relationship conflicts, etc., simply as ‘problems’, these can be seen as pathways toward greater self-understanding and personal growth, eventually leading to a more fulfilling life. Integrative Counseling allows you to notice that subtle changes occur when you bring an accepting and compassionate awareness to ordinary experiences. Through self-inquiry we learn to pause, relax and open to the moment-to-moment experience of our hearts, minds, and bodies. This process can foster new perspectives on thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; find pathways out of pain, and lead to a more balanced and enjoyable life. Integrative Counseling is a Mindfulness, Cognitive and Behavioral Therapeutic approach, which may include mindfulness stress reduction practices depending on your needs. Sessions provide a safe and confidential setting in which to share your challenges with a caring, well trained professional who can help you process your experiences in healthy, nurturing ways. Janice teaches at Duke University, Body-Mind Centering programs in North Carolina, France, Germany and Brazil, and has taught at the University of North Carolina, Smith College, University of California-Hayward, Esalen Institute, Omega Institute, and in Europe.
